The Indian hospitality industry has emerged as one of the key industries driving the growth of the services sector and, thereby, the Indian economy as a whole. Indian Hotel Industry has been projected to grow from $7.5 billion to $ 16 billion by 2025. i.e. CAGR of nearly 15%, during the forecast period.

Performance of Tourism Sector during January 2019

Ministry of Tourism compiles monthly estimates of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) on the basis of data received from major ports and Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism on the basis of data available from Reserve Bank of India. The following are the important highlights regarding FTAs and FEEs from tourism during the month of January 2019.

Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTA)

January 2016 was 8.80 lakh

January 2018 was 10.55 lakh Growth between 2016 - 18 : 3.6% in absoute term & 21.4.0% in Rupee term

January 2019 was 10.89 lakh: Growth between 2018 - 19: 3.2% in absoute term & 7.0% in Rupee term

Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from Tourism in Indian rupee terms and US$ terms

January 2016: `8,623 crore & US$ 23.15 billion 

 January 2018:`10,465crore & US$ 28.59 billion Growth Rate: January 2016 - 18 was of 4.8%

January 2019: `11,197 crore & US$ 29.96 billion, Growth Rate: January 2018 - 19 was of 8.96 %

Front Office Job

In the Hotel Industry, the front office welcomes guests to the accommodation section: meeting and greeting them, taking and organizing reservations, allocating check in and out of rooms, organizing porter service, issuing keys and other security arrangements, passing on messages to customers and settling the accounts.

As the Face of the Organization, Front Office plays very crucial role for hospitality business. The primary function Of the Food and Beverage Department is, of course, to provide food and drinks to a hotel’s guest. Restaurants vary greatly in appearance and offerings, including a wide variety of the main chef’s cuisines and service models. One will be well-acquainted with a number of the training methods covered here.
